In this paper an enhanced decision-making strategy is presented for the detection of harmonic sources in power systems able to detect also which is the prevailing nature of the disturbance (nonlinearity or unbalance). It makes use of some simple indices, which are evaluated by means of the measurements of some nonactive power quantities, proposed by the authors and derived from the approach of the IEEE Std. 1459-2010. Body composition as a predictor of physical performance in older age : A ten- year follow-up of the Helsinki Birth Cohort Study

Background: This study assessed how different measures of body composition predict physical performance ten years later among older adults. Methods: The participants were 1076 men and women aged 57 to 70 years. Body mass index (BMI), waist circumference, and body composition (bioelectrical impedance analysis) were measured at baseline and physical performance (Senior Fitness Test) ten years later. Linear regression analyses were adjusted for age, education, smoking, duration of the follow-up and physical activity. The paper investigates the suitability of using power ratio parameters for harmonic emissions assessment at the point of common coupling (PCC). The study is carried out starting from the IEEE Std. 1459-2010 apparent power decomposition, where power factors are defined for evaluating line utilization and harmonic pollution levels. In addition, the study investigates the behavior of new parameters, which are expressed in terms of ratio between IEEE Std. 1459-2010 power quantities. A formal language of logic that he created, enabled him to perceive mathematics with great precision and depth. He described mathematics axiomatically basing the reasoning exclusively on logical and set-theoretical primitive terms and properties, which was revolutionary at that time. Yet, numerous Peano’s contributions remain either unremembered or underestimated.
An enhanced approach based on IEEE 1459 for the detection of disturbing loads in distorted and unbalanced three-phase power systems

This paper presents an enhanced approach for the detection of disturbing loads in distorted and/or unbalanced three-phase power systems in both cases of three and four-wires. It is based on the IEEE Std. 1459-2000 effective apparent power resolution and it requires only the separation of the fundamental components of voltage and current from the remaining harmonic content. In the paper, the formulation of the novel approach is given and some simulation results are presented.

In well-being research the term happiness is often used as synonymous with life satisfaction. However, little is known about lay people's understanding of happiness. Building on the available literature, this study explored lay definitions of happiness across nations and cultural dimensions, analyzing their components and relationship with participants' demographic features. Participants were 2799 adults (age range = 30-60, 50% women) living in urban areas of Argentina, Brazil, Croatia, Hungary, India, Italy, Mexico, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, South Africa, and United States. The present paper presents the preliminary results of the ongoing Italian METERGLOB project on the contribution given by the exposed conductive parts to a Global Grounding System. One of the expected results of METERGLOB is to carry out guidelines for the identification of a Global Grounding System. These guidelines must be defined on the basis of the definitions and methods present in the current international standards on grounding and safety. In the paper some definitions and elements to be taken into account for the identification of a Global Grounding System are given.
